The Backstory
Othmar Yard is an Amtrak/MARC electric and diesel maintenance facility somewhere near the southern end of the NEC, the North-East Corridor in the Washington DC area. In addition to performing overhauls on Amtraks diesel and electric fleet, it also features a wheel shop which works on a wide range of Amtrak rolling stock and even the occasional freight car. It receives the occasional visit from a CSX way freight delivering materials, diesel fuel or a freight car needing repair.
.... or is it? ....
Othmar Yard is a locomotive workshop in Eastern Switzerland servicing the SBB's fleet of Class 460 passenger locomotives along with a number of cross-border visitors from the OBB and occasional locomotives from private operators. The yard also features a wheel shop to make running repairs to rolling stock. A short section of dual gauge track can be found at the back of the main works for testing the occasional meter-gauge loco sent here for repair.
